We bought HOMCOM Yogurt Maker because we want to make fresh, healthy, additive free and preservative-free, probiotic-rich yogurt tailored to our taste!
It is a lightweight and compact appliance designed to simplify homemade yogurt preparation. It promises a consistent heating for even fermentation.
I like that jars for yogurt production are made of glass and each one is of the perfect serving size. The yogurt maker itself is light and small, which makes it easy to store.
The top clear cover is a bit thin plastic, so you have to be careful not to drop it.
I am also not fond of plastic covers for the glass jars, and may look in the future for alternative solutions. But on the other hand, the coved do not touch the product inside and temperatures are too low to produce unwanted chemicals.
Default setting by the manufacturer is 42C (107.6 F) and 8 hours for yogurt production.
The beauty of this affordable device is the ability to control the duration of fermentation from 1-48 hours and temperature setting in the range of 25-50C (77-122 F)
Why is it important? Because the flexibility of the settings gives you the ability to produce a wider variety of products. You can make regular yogurt, kefir and special varieties of healthy yogurt such as L. Reuteri yogurt and others, which require different temperatures and time for fermentation to obtain full health benefits of those versatile products.
And that is the whole purpose of having the yogurt maker.
