I finally want to start recording videos for my YouTube channel!
I finally want to start recording videos for my YouTube channel 60? So What!
I registered the name and set up my account almost 2 years ago, had ideas, topics and some skills to share, but never had a real courage to start!
I find excuses such as “ oh, I need to learn a lot, before I start”, another good one -“I am busy”, but honestly, I think I am just simply afraid of unknown.
First step is the hardest.
I am trying to figure out what do I need to know before I attempt to record videos, what equipment do I need.
I am using following system:
Writing down categories such as knowledge needed, equipment, books to read, educational videos to watch brings structure to the task.
Write as many questions in each category as you wish.
Breaking each category down into the individual questions makes is more digestible.
Example:
Category: Knowledge
Question: What do I need to know about lighting?
And finally breaking each question into smaller chunks:
- What is the best affordable lighting setup?
- Where to buy?
- What would be the best place for the recording videos for YouTube in terms of lighting in the room?
- How lighting affects the quality of the video?
- Where to learn fast and effectively about the lighting. Recommendations.
- What equipment I have and what is missing.
- Who can help me?
Just write down every possible concern that comes to your mind. When you’ll start to investigate your smaller chunks of a question, some of the chunks will be answered simultaneously, so you can cross them out of your list.
This system helps to calm down the feelings of overwhelm, fear and frustration. It is way easier to manage small tasks and take the baby steps, instead of watching an hour or two long video about the whole process.
After mastering one question, move to the next. Till you have all the answers.
After finishing one category, proceed to the next. Repeat the process.
Can you learn everything at once? Probably not.
But baby steps will move you forward, you just need to make them consistently and courageously. And when you do, pat yourself on the back.
Good luck to me and you!
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will try to help.
